Eliminate!

June 1st, 2007 at 12:26 pm

Ok, so in response to everyone's advice, I have canceled everything I could cancel. I have canceled the gym personal trainer membership, I have canceled going out to lunch every day, I have even canceled Napster and Netflix. My fixed expenses are at a very manageable level, giving me the extra cash flow to add more to my credit card payments.

I did not cut up the credit cards, but I did put them all in the safety deposit box at the bank and I did shred the numbers I had written down. So, they are not accessible for spending. I also took my debit card out of my wallet and I only carry cash and my monthly gas card that I pay cash for at the beginning of the month. So, I think all of the restrictions are in place to help me avoid the impuslive urge to spend.

The car is holding up well. I am taking it for the state inspection next week and I am praying it passes. If it passes, I am good to go! If not, well, I'll need to think about car options, but I am not going to think about that until I have to.

Good job for doing all of that. I don't know that I would have been that brave. I'm sure that you'll be pleasantly surprized by the results though.

That's a very good idea about the credit cards, putting them in the safe deposit box (relatively inaccessible) and not keeping the numbers! Good job!
